--- Family Phuket trip ---

My honeykins Azmil and eldest daughter Lyana on the elephant trek. I was on the other elephant (poor thing!)... :). This was in Phuket.

A rare family shot was I was the one yang selalu sibuk take people's photos!

Lyana on the ubiquitous Tuk Tuk. She's 10 this 2nd October.

And my baby Sarah. Do they look alike? I was told more times than I can count that they look like twins! She'll turn 8 this 10th October. Yes, both October kids. And no, we didn't plan it that way. And before you ask...no, not planning for more kids! :)

Just wanted to share with you... here's my family!

Barbie Mermaid cake

A lesson learnt from this cake; whilst the decor was alright, the cake was not. I had bought flour from a new supplier and that flour was a bad batch. The cake did not rise as it should and was dense. I tested the baking powder - came out fine.  I retested the flour and here was the culprit. The test cake had the same outcome. I threw the remaining flour out. So now I know, STICK to your trusted supplier. Grrrr... wasted effort ya!

Cupcakes for birthday - small (36 per box)

All packed and ready to go.

Thanks Kak Joan!

Simple jersey cake

A small 1/2kg cake, simply frosted with french buttercream. The cake flavor - red velvet.

Introducing - Red Velvet cupcakes (and cakes)

A little messy but in my defense (hehe) this was just a test! I wanted to taste how a red velvet cupcake (cake) tastes like... and I like! So now I have another flavour to offer you!

However, unless requested, I will ice/frost the red velvet with French Buttercream instead of Cream Cheese as apparently fremch buttercream is more authentic (?? ye ke)

Mahjong Cake to match the Mahjong Cupcakes for PohPoh!

"Happy Birthday Poh Poh" correct or not??

Chips from fondant (2 colors) and images were hand drawn.

Don't even know if I susun the chips correctly!

Green 'felt' made from fondant.

Must have dice right?

Pls dont ask me what I've drawn! I have no idea! :)

This was a large cake, and I ended making the mahjong chips/tiles life size! Soooo, you can probably imagine the size of the cake then!

Note to self! Must remember to repeat the technique of rolling the green 'felt' on the back of the cake tin to get exact cake size. To also dust the tin with icing sugar so that it slides right off! Worked great!

Mahjong Cupcakes for PohPoh!

eek! I don't know how to rotate this image leh!

Interesting project! I had to write in Chinese when I cant read/write it at all! I hope my research paid off and I didn't write anything offensive! :) Plus mahjong is a game I observed when I was a child, and hanging out at my neighbours house (Mrs. Tan) in SS2 way back in the 70's! Again, hope my research was accurate enough.

The mahjong chips were made from fondant and the images were hand-drawn; on buttercream icing.

Liverpool and Manchester United cake

Gasp!! At the same time??

Chocolate ganache cake with choc shavings and edible image.
